Austin's Lucid Release Party

Our Ubuntu 10.04 LTS release is just around the corner, so it's time for another Austin Release Party...

We held the Jaunty release party at the Jackalope, and the Karmic release party at Aussie's (in honor of our favorite Koala)... Up next, The Mean Eyed Cat, paying our respects to the Lucid Lynx!

So join us on Friday, April 30th from 6pm at The Mean Eyed Cat, 1621 W Fifth St, Austin, TX 78703.

If you haven't been to the Mean Eyed Cat, you're in for a treat :-) This Johnny Cash-themed bar was actually the setting for a scene in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2.

Bring a USB key if you'd like to get a copy of Ubuntu 10.04 LTS, and leave a note in the comments below if you plan on joining us, or I'm going to send this guy after you if you don't...

Cheers,
:-Dustin

  2. Wish I could make it to, but I'm not in the same state or country! :-( Have fun though.

PS...did you hunt down that bug with eCryptfs with regard to mounting encrypted files from one one system on another? (https://answers.launchpad.net/ecryptfs/+question/104211)

  4. Heya Dustin. Hoping to bring down an Austin contingency of Rackers for the launch. Funny thing is, I was in a band that did the title track for Texas Chainsaw 3 - missed it by on. No worries - we'll be out there to celebrate our brothers and the best Linux distro out there. Cheres.

  6. A USB key huh? Should we bring our notebooks also, or will this be a more serious drinking affair? I have a Dell Vostro V13 I purchased with Ubuntu....

  7. Please do bring your netbooks/notebooks and show off your favorite features, if you like! Last time, I demo'd our Ubuntu Enterprise Cloud. I'll probably just enjoy the beer and conversation this time around, though ;-)

  8. Any idea what the count will be? I've just moved to Austin, and I'd love to get to know some folks here. Will the party go late?; I can't get there till about 8 pm.

  9. We've had 10 - 40 people at the last 5 release parties. I'll probably hang around until 9pm or so.
