It most certainly is a beautiful picture (and I took a brief look at some of your other work -- excellent stuff)!

If you're bothered by the LinuxFest's usage, I suggest you contact the organizers. They're quite reasonable guys. I suspect you can come to some arrangement ;-)

Although it may be a bit self serving, I've got to agree with you about the beautiful image. I'm the photographer. Linuxfest is kinda pushing the edge of the non-commercial part of the Creative Commons license... No worries, anyone that starts a blog post with "Take a close look at this beautiful image..." is OK with me.

We'll definitely have a way for people to contribute their appliances in a way that is both more visible and more usable in the near future.

There's on going research in that area right now, and we hope to get to some basic agreements and to open up the discussion and development for contributions in the very near future.

If you have interest in the area or any further questions, please subscribe to the ubuntu-cloud mailing list. It'll certainly be maintained up-to-date with anything interesting that is happening in this area.

Is there (or will there be) a succinct listing of available UEC appliance images for purchase/download that is viewable from outside the dedicated UEC web interface? Or is the only way to view the available images the UEC web interface once an UEC controller is installed on premises?

For example, both Jumpbox and Turnkey Linux (both Ubuntu derivatives) do a a reasonably good job of providing a browsable catalogue of their appliance offerings on their websites. Is Canonical going to offer that sort of browsable catalogue of preconfigured ISV appliances as they become available in the UEC store?
